The Republic, or the Order of the Kingdoms of Poland, Lithuania, Prussia, Livonia, and Others is a collection of historical texts by various authors, compiled by the Dutch geographer Johannes de Laet (1581–1649). Among other things, the book includes On the Gods of Samogitians, Other Sarmatians and False Christians (De diis Samogitarum caeterorumque Sarmatarum et falsorum Cristianorum) by the Polish historian Jan Lasicki (1534–1602) and an excerpt from the tractate On the Customs of the Tartars, Lithuanians, and Muscovites (De moribus Tartarorum, Lituanorum et Moschorum) by the diplomat and Chancery Secretary to the Grand Duke of Lithuania Mykolas Lietuvis (~1490– ~1560). The tractate was written around 1550. Ten of its fragments survived and were published in Basel in 1615. Later the fragments were reprinted in the works published in the Dutch Elsevier Printing House in 1626, 1627, 1630, and 1640.
