Title: Annuae Litterae Societatis Iesu anni MDXCVI.

Title in English: Annual Letters of the Society of Jesus of 1596.

Neapoli: ex typographia Tarquinij Longi, 1605.

The Jesuit report Annual Letters of the Society of Jesus of 1596 includes historical documents on the society’s work in Lithuania. The Jesuits first came to Lithuania in 1569 upon an invitation by the Bishop of Vilnius Walerian Protasewicz (1504–1579). The monks were active in Lithuanian cultural life: they published books, founded schools, and founded the College of Vilnius in 1570 (p. 11–14).
